In 2024, jianze began a collaboration with Hu Zhengren, a master of arts and crafts and the representative inheritor of the provincial intangible cultural heritage Bamboo Weaving technique. Together, they set out to reinterpret this ancient craft through a contemporary lens, weaving tradition into a modern design language. After two years of dedicated exploration, the culmination of this collaboration—the Zhú Table Lamp and Floor Lamp—debuts at MATTER AND SHAPE 2026.

The lamps feature a cylindrical shade crafted from a complete bamboo weave, its clean and rhythmic texture revealing warm, nuanced layers when illuminated. What sets the piece apart is its embrace of nature's individuality: the lamp's stem is left as a raw, natural bamboo pole. Each piece is inherently unique—distinguished by its own grain, texture, and character—ensuring that no two lamps are ever the same. Designed by Ville Kokkonen, the overall silhouette remains deliberately restrained. The clean, cylindrical form engages in a precise dialogue with the woven bamboo texture, revitalizing traditional craftsmanship within a contemporary context.
