Mr. and Mrs. Banmayizi, the male owner Weik is an all-round sports enthusiast who is not like an IT guy. Besides traveling in the digital world, he likes basketball, tennis, Frisbee, skiing and other sports. The hostess Jing likes to observe human beings and show beautiful things. She and her good friends founded a wedding planning team called "Soulwalk" to create daily relaxed beauty in the ceremony.
01 Design makes home imagination come true
In order to decorate this 120-square-meter new home, the Banmayizi couple looked at almost all the designers' works in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and finally found the only team that met their expectations. Because in different cities, there will be some differences when landing. Fortunately, the foreman was introduced by a friend and he is very ambitious. They often discuss issues of improvement together to make the home closer to what they imagined.
Q: What's the most unique thing about your home?
A: This is an unknown tatami room, with the entrance located where the TV wall originally was. Closing the door can turn it into a closed space. The living room with uniform colors makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed as soon as you enter. Putting down the projector turns the living room into a cinema.
Open the door and it can turn into the room you want at any time as long as you start imagining it, because it is not predefined. This room is also transparently connected to the living room and balcony, making light the best accessory in the home. When friends come, they will exclaim that this is the magic of amplifying space.
Weik likes to clean and organize, while Jing likes to collect and display. The personalities of the two of them are designed to flow evenly in the same home. Sometimes the same corner is sorted into a blank, and sometimes it "loses control" and returns to another appearance, showing mutual understanding and tolerance.
Q: How do you view the impact of “design” on daily life?
A:Design demonstrates people's understanding of the world. For both designers and users, design involves a process of input absorption, thinking and digestion, and output presentation. Design will reflect the whims and wonders of the world into your home, in turn inspiring your life again.
For example, we like to dance and need a large mirror in the living room. I mentioned this request to the designer, and it was finally realized very cleverly. A sliding door was added between the open kitchen and the living room. As time passes, the mirror shines on the stage, the incense is lit, music is played, and the living room instantly becomes a ballroom full of emotion.
02 life, space, thinking
How did this aesthetic that is close to wabi-sabi but not quite wabi-sabi come about? Banmayizi doesn't know either, but he has never liked traditional living spaces. They often face some inertia and ask: Why must there be a washing machine and clothes drying rack on the balcony? Why is it necessary to have a TV wall? Why does minimalism have to be abandoned? This process of thinking shaped their common home.
Q: Are there any rules in your home?
A: Comfort, freedom, and most importantly, thinking. Living in this world requires thinking, and thinking about this matter is particularly important. Many people do things "I do what others do" and rarely have the desire or opportunity to express their own views and opinions.
Q: How would you describe the spirit or theme of this generation?
A: Some kind of "resistance" in quotes. Most people give up their own thinking for the sake of stability and choose to follow the herd. Whether in life or work, they live the same life day after day, year after year. But there will still be some people, and slowly there will be more people, who will have their own ideas and learn to "resist." For example, at this stage of life, I don't want children. I dare to “resist” the inertia of my peers, the advice of my parents, and the discipline of society.
This kind of "resistance" actually comes from personal continuous thinking, and then expressing these things freely. Maybe in "Resistance" the world will become more diverse and lovely.
03 Plant care tips: Grow them however you want.
Q: What experience can you share about caring for indoor plants?
A: I have raised many kinds of plants, and many of them have died. My experience is to try more.
In fact, when plants died before, it would be very stressful. Until we went to a friend's house and his plants were growing very well, so we asked him how he raised them. He said you can raise it however you want. If it's yours, keep it. If it's not yours, just let it go. I was shocked when I heard that. It turns out that the plants that really grow well are those plants that are accustomed to your cultivation method.
Now in my house, in theory, I should water the plants according to different times and habits, but sometimes I forget or am too lazy to water them, so so be it. This is a process of mutual selection and adaptation.
There is also a pot of old friend, probably arrowroot, in their home, which has been with them all their lives. The leaves will always sprout new ones, and then the old ones will wither. It is a very vibrant souvenir of time and space. "It has always been tenacious, and we will always carry it with us."
Banmayizi&Jianze
Q: What is your first impression of Jianze?
A: Like a home furnishing brand that exists not only for home furnishings, it reveals a certain sense of philosophy that is difficult to describe in detail. The symbol "0" is very flexible. It really feels like it is moving. There is a magical little life inside that is ready to break out of its shell.
Among Banmayizi's products, Banmayizi likes the Pony Step Stool and Pat-Pat Stool the most. Their flexibility injects cuteness into the wabi-sabi space. "It's very practical wherever you put it. It can be used as a stool or as a decoration."
Weik is afraid of shedding, Jing wants to raise a cat, and the Pat-Pat Stool has become the family's temporary "cat meal replacement." They are also constantly thinking about "should I have a baby" just like they are facing the question of "should I have a baby?" Raise a cat?”
In the endless desert, a cartoon zebra is sitting leisurely on a chair... Banmayizi means zebra chair, and the name comes from this dream. Isn't the fantastic phenomenon that seems to be contrary to common sense to others the true self that leaps out from drifting with the crowd?
"The warm and tolerant, deep and hazy home is a bit of reality that can be captured in the boundless illusion, and it is also the elusive illusion in reality."
Jianze will work with you to find the furniture that inspires you to think, make you more comfortable, and become your true self more bravely.
