Chiyu and Sanmao means the fish in the pond (referring to the interviewee) and the three cats living together.Chiyu is a freelancer whose current main job is as a baker. She likes to use images to express her attitude towards food and home.
01 Cat, the unfettered philosophy of life
There is no clear time limit for Chiyu to go to work. After getting up, he turns on the coffee machine, washes up, eats breakfast, looks at his mobile phone for a while, and arranges the work he saved some time ago. The cat accompanies him in all activities. During the online interview, the cat kept clinging to her side and "talking" about her.
Q: Which corner of your home makes you relax the most?
A: Cats are the most relaxing mobile corner for me. Sometimes cats are very clingy and sometimes they are very cold.
I have seen a piece of "What cats teach people" before: when you love someone, you can maintain yourself. It definitely loves you, but it won't accommodate you. Be there when you need her, but also have her own way of doing things.
During the Chinese New Year, Chiyu discovered that the stray cat she often fed was urinating blood, so she took it home to rescue it. The clingy cat became the fourth cat in the family.
The cat's choices are strange for humans, liking cardboard boxes and also liking small, plastic things. It doesn't think expensive things are good, but sticks to what makes it most comfortable. Not tied to values other than happiness, this is clearer and more interesting than the choices humans sometimes make.
02 Design is not isolated and monotonous
Chiyu believes that good design should add novelty and vitality to the space. Because it occupies a small space and is flexible to use, she likes to buy lamps and chairs. In addition to lighting, lamps are also an installation in the home when the lights are not turned on. The chair looks like a certain style when taken out alone, but when it is truly integrated into the home according to your ideas, it will appear together with other decorations to create a feeling that it did not originally have.
Q: How do you view the impact of “design” on daily life?
A: The most important thing in design is innovation and respect for innovation.
There are many well-designed and long-lasting furniture abroad, but there will be corresponding imitations in China, which is a waste of design. This current situation comes from the interactive choices of merchants and consumers. The former can make quick money safely without innovating, while the latter can buy similar products at a lower price.
Consumption is a personal choice. I will collect original design products that I recognize. This is a positive interaction with the world and brings quality to my home.
03 Open up three rooms and merge them into an extra large living room
Chiyu pursues large space and does not require clear functional division. So she opened up two bedrooms and a master bathroom, making the entire area larger than the living room. her coffee equipment
Sofa and even dining basically happen here.
Her expected service life of the renovation was kept at 5 years. "I'm not sure what I will like in two or three years." If it fails, just start a new try.
Q: How would you describe the spirit or theme of this generation?
A: Pursue yourself. In the past, I often couldn't do what my family wanted me to do. After graduation, I stayed outside, kept my distance, and lived independently.
There should be many young people facing the same issue: Should they follow their parents' ideas step by step, or should they consider their own inner true needs? My choice will be "selfish" and I don't want to waste this life.
The traditional family concept is weakening. Besides "starting a family, starting a business, getting married and having children," we have other life choices. Life cannot be said to be correct or not. The meaning of life is to choose the life you want and go in this direction.
04 Making bread is very similar to decorating, there is no standard but there are many variables
Chiyu turned her hobby into a job. She set up a studio downstairs at home and only made bread two days a week and sent it out by express delivery.
Sometimes Chiyu will make some innovative attempts based on seasonal ingredients and local characteristics, such as adding Cantonese-style sausage or even snail meat to the bread. Like in Europe, cheese and spices will be added. The taste can be switched at will, but the foundation is always bread. This is also somewhat similar to the "simple hard decoration, changing soft decoration" of her space.
Chiyu&Jianze
Q: Before understanding Jianze, what was your impression of Jianze?
A: Jianze's brand name feels profound and will trigger thinking, “What is this brand going to express?”
Jianze's products are highly saturated and bright in color, very active and agile, but they don't look out of place in the space. The choice of materials is not particularly in line with the market trends, and good design is not limited to materials.
Q: What products do you already have at home?
A: I collected Zero-0 but never used it. I like to collect cups. The tableware at home is generally more decorative than practical.
Pat-Pat feels soft to the touch, but is very elastic and supportive when you sit on it. It stands to reason that cats generally don't like to sleep on raised places, but my cat likes to lie on it, and his sleeping position is very special every time.
Jenga is still getting familiar with cats. I can also use it to store things and create landscaping. It is very suitable for matching low-saturated objects.
The bread is about to come out of the oven, and Chiyu's new transformation ideas have begun to ferment.
Starting from the exploration of self-needs, life innovations full of action continue one after another.
Open the present moment, take action at any time, stretch your thoughts in the space, and bravely try new things with you every now and then.
